Organization administrators use test checkout to check purchases on draft, preview and live sites. You do not need a Square connection or a developer account. Dummy completes simulated payments without real charges. Public payment settings and public sales stay unchanged.
Trackside sends real test emails to the addresses you enter. Use email addresses you control.
Start a private test
- Under Settings, open Payments.
- In Test purchases, select Start test checkout.
- Check that your site shows the test banner and End test checkout.
- Choose an entry or pass that is available for sale.
- Use an email address you control for checkout.
- Select Complete test payment to complete the purchase.
- Check the receipt and purchase details after you reload the page.
The test opens on your organization's Trackside address, including when visitors use a custom domain. The test applies only in the browser where you started it. Prices, sale windows and eligibility still apply. An item outside its sale window remains unavailable during the test.
Check declined and cancelled payments
Select Simulate decline to check a failed payment. Select Cancel checkout to check a cancelled checkout. Neither action completes a purchase.
Find test results
Test orders, registrations and passes use Sandbox records. In the console, open the event roster and select Sandbox in Roster payment mode. Reload the roster to check the test registration. Live rosters and financial results exclude test purchases.
Test purchases use separate capacity, add-on stock, pass stock, pass holdings and store credit. Redeeming a test pass uses its Sandbox holdings and creates a Sandbox registration. Test refunds, transfers and credit remain in Sandbox. They do not change Live purchases or available Live inventory.
The catalog, site settings and rider accounts are shared with Live. Editing a price, listing or rider account during a test changes that shared information.
End the test
- On the site, select End test checkout in the test banner.
- Check that the test banner has gone.
Ending the test returns that browser to the site's public payment settings. It does not remove test records. Your public payment settings stay unchanged.
Check real payments before launch
Dummy does not check your Square connection, Square card form or real payment delivery. Connect Square Live and complete a final Live payment check before opening real sales.
